We're leafing on a jet plant, embarking on six, really hard, tough, stressful weeks of adventuring. So, if you're sitting at your office, or on your phone (maybe on the loo) ...or even in the DMV, let this site be a reminder that...it could be worse... you could be river rafting, surfing, big chillin' with those monos locos, or even eating crocodile. Enjoy. We will miss you all.

Parks and Recreation

Ahoy matey's!  Oh, the sweet sound of cicadas in the morning....

We're onto day 5 of our journey (holy shit the biggest fly I've ever seen just landed a few feet away from me.  AHHH! another one right in front of me! Whooo. That was close.)

Tawsh, "It's gonna start getting really hot here. Right when the sun and cicadas come out... It starts getting really hot."

[MEEEEOOOOWWW!]

Where was I?   Oh ya, Costa Rica!

So one thing we haven't really filled you in on yet is the weather.  It's been absolutely amazing.  This morning at about 5am was the first time it had significantly rained (where we've been) since our arrival.  At times the clouds have been slightly ominous.  But time and time again--knock on wood--the sun keeps coming out, and we've yet to battle a rain shower.  Even this morning, by the time we got up and out for breakfast, the rain was nowhere in sight.  So much for weather forecasts!!

When we were looking at what the weather was going to be like, before we came down, all the reports suggested it would be nothing but thundershowers.  With a slight shrug of our shoulders, we packed our rain gear and expected the worst.  Instead, we walked to town yesterday with out clothes sticking to us from sweat and humidity. Thankfully we were able to cool off in the Caribbean Sea at the Cahuita National Park beach.

(Beach supplies)

We are really enjoying the fresh fruit and great coffee. We bought a coconut and a pineapple yesterday and they were DEEELICIOUS.

(Black vultures chillen' in a tree)

We booked our first tour yesterday...we are going SNORKELING on MONDAY!! :) At the end of the tour they are going to drop us off at the foot of a big trail (apparently there are monkeys all along the trail that throw things at you!!).

(Grant on our walk back from town)

It is getting to hot to be sitting on our porch at this point. :) We will keep ya'll posted.

Love and bear hugs,
Tawsh and Grant

PS: We are staying at Hostel Brigette. She is from Switzerland originally and has created this little resort here in the middle of the jungle. She has horses (for horse-back tours), bicycles for rent and a breakfast bar. I suggest to anyone that is traveling to the Caribbean side of Costa Rica to check this place out!!!!! (plus she has 3 cute dogs, a cat and a few chickens that pay you a visit from time to time)
