We're leafing on a jet plant, embarking on six, really hard, tough, stressful weeks of adventuring. So, if you're sitting at your office, or on your phone (maybe on the loo) ...or even in the DMV, let this site be a reminder that...it could be worse... you could be river rafting, surfing, big chillin' with those monos locos, or even eating crocodile. Enjoy. We will miss you all.

a bungalow in the jungle-o

Good morning!

We are coming to you from the front porch of our very own jungle bungalow!! The sound of roosters crowing, dogs barking, cicadas chirping, and reggae jammin' wash over us, as we sit here filling you in on our adventure thus far.... After leaving San Jose, we originally planned on staying in Puerto Limon for 2 nights, but we decided to come to Cahuita early and skip Puerto Limon altogether. So, on Thursday we woke up, said our goodbyes to our new friends in San Jose and hopped on the four hour bus ride to Cahuita. The scenery out of the but window was absolutely breathtaking and it was the first time we really got to see the more "Jurassic Park" side of Costa Rica. It's incredible how green this country in.  When we reached the Caribbean coast, and got our first sight of the water, we knew we were close.  The bus dropped us off in the "town-center" which was more like a tiny corner store and we walked along a dirt road, adjacent to the ocean for a few kilometers. The place we're staying is somewhat outside of Cahuita, in Playa Negra, so we had a bit of walk with all our gear.  When we reached our new home, we weren't sure if they'd have room for us, but luckily they did.  We were greeted by the owner of the hostel who showed us to our little home. The porch has 2 colorful hammocks and the walls are covered in murals. We now live within earshot of a great reggae bar, which is only a stone's throw away from the beach.

(I found a friend!!!!!)

Today, we'll be doing some more lounging, journaling, reading, gin rummying, coffee sipping, beer drinking, good time having, and wishing you were here with us.  Thank you all for keeping up with our journey.  We'll be in Cahuita for the next few days, and as it's a slow town, we may wait a little to write our next entry.
Love, from G & N
